A few days ago I had to go to Kroger to pick up a few things. When I got there I was quickly reminded that it was December 1st. There was no sign telling me the date. I knew because of the line of Taxi Cabs out front, the full parking lot, and long check out lines. I usually try to avoid this Kroger the first few days of the month because of the crowds and lines.
You may be wondering what the first of the month and the crowds have to do with each other. In neighborhoods where most people get government assistance the first of the month is "pay day." People's kitchens are usually getting pretty bare by the end of the month, so as soon as the check comes they are ready to hit the store.
This is something I never thought about before living in the inner city.
